Coronaviruses are types of viruses that affect the respiratory tract of mammals, including humans. They cause common cold, pneumonia, severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), and Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS).

Here are 10 things you need to know about Coronavirus;

-1. Coronaviruses are zoonotic, which means they can be transmitted between animals and humans.

-2. Human coronaviruses has a unique pathogenesis because it causes both upper and lower respiratory tract infections.

-3. Among humans, corona infection most often occurs during the winter months as well as early spring.

-4. Flu-like symptoms usually set in from 2 to 4 days after coronavirus infection. Other symptoms include; sneezing, a runny nose, fatigue, cough, in rare cases, fever, sore throat and exacerbated asthma

-5. Coronavirus can spread when an infected person coughs, sneezes without covering the mouth.

-6. Touching or shaking hands with a person that has coronavirus can pass the virus from one person to another.

-7. Making contact with a surface or object that is infected with the virus and then touching your nose, eyes, or mouth can get you infected with the virus.

-8. Young people are most likely to contract a coronavirus, and people can contract more than one infection over the course of a lifetime.

-9. Covering the mouth and nose with a tissue or handkerchief while coughing or sneezing can also help prevent the spread of a this virus.

-10. There are no vaccines available to protect you against coronavirus infection. You may be able to reduce your risk of infection by wash your hands often with soap, avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands and avoid close contact with people who are sick.
